Officers responded to a report of a person with a gun in the area of the 1400 block of North 53rd Street, District 19, at 3:56 p.m., as detailed in the release.
They arrived to find a man between 30 and 35 years old with gunshot wounds to his chest, abdomen, and left arm, police explained.
The man was taken to the Penn Presbyterian Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at 4:27 p.m., according to police.
A weapon was recovered at the scene, and a woman is in custody, police said. The investigation is ongoing.
